1. EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES

1.1   . Overall objectives

Graduates with an Economic Law major are expected to master fundamental knowledge and necessary skills with regard to legal matters in various social, economic and political settings, to be sharp critical thinkers who prove professionally ethical and socially responsible.  They are also capable of applying legal regulations to the national economic management as well as enterprises’ business activities in order to meet the social needs for high quality human resources in the Vietnamese context of economic development and international integration.

1.2 Specific objectives

1.2.1. Knowledge

Students are expected to: (1) have basic social and economic knowledge as well as demonstrate an acceptable mastery of foreign language and IT and (2) have extensive legal knowledge in the economic field.

1.2.2. Personal and professional skills

Students are trained in order to: (1) possess essential teamwork skills and the ability to think independently and critically, (2) have effective communication skills in the legal field and (3) have the necessary research skills and legal thinking capacity to effectively solve problems in the law and business field.

1.2.3. Attitude

Students are expected to have a life-long learning commitment, to eagerly participate in social activities and to uphold professional ethics, values and standards.

1.2.4. Professional competence

The program is designed to help students acquire the ability to (1) be aware of their surrounding social context and business environment and (2) apply their well-earned knowledge to deal with a variety of organizations and individuals.

2. LEARNING OUTCOME

Graduates with an Economic Law major are expected to have such legal professions as legal executives, HR professionals, court clerks, procurators, lawyers, etc… in economic, political and social organizations.

Graduates can also choose to pursue their higher education in law training programs for practicing lawyers, judges or prosecutors as regulated by the Vietnamese government.

3. ACADEMIC PROGRAM TIMELINE

The academic program timeline designed for this curriculum is 4 years, including 8 main semesters and 3 summer semesters. In the first 7 main semesters, students mainly study in their classrooms. The remaining semester is for internship and either thesis writing or coursework option. Students can register to redo a course to improve their scores or do a course at an earlier stage during the main and summer semesters. The summer semester is organized in response to students’ need.

Students can accumulate their credits earlier than usual to complete their program 1.5 years before the designed academic training timeline. They can also delay their learning, but the extension should be no more than 2 years in comparison with the actual program.

4. ACADEMIC PROGRAM TIMELINE

The program includes 129 credits. In addition, 5 credits in Physical Education and 8 credits in Defense Education are also required.

5. ADMISSION

Enrolment candidates must hold a High School Completion Certificate or one demonstrating equivalent scholastic achievement as regulated by the Vietnam’s Ministry of Education and Training (MoET).

6. EDUCATIONAL PROCESS AND GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS

The educational process is strictly regulated by current MoET and BUH policies.

7. GRADING SYSTEM

The 10- point scale is employed in assessing students’ scholastic achievements. Other scales are only for reference and comparison purposes.
