1. OBJECTIVES

1.1 General objectives

Graduates at Faculty of Foreign Languages are supposed to have sufficient background knowledge in English language, proficient career-orienented skills, upstanding political ethical qualities, as well as professional attitudes to work at various dosmestic and international enterprises or organizations. They also possess capability for self-study and lifelong learning necessary to advance at higher levels or meet the market demands.

1.2 Specific objectives

Knowledge: Graduates will have

- a mastery of basic social-sciences knowledge. 

- a solid  understanding of English language in terms of Bristish and American cultures, Western literature, intercultural communications and linguistics.

- a basic knowledge about business, administration, as well as financial sectors.

- proficient skills and advanced knowledge in field of translation and interpretation.

Interpersonal and professional skills: Graduates will be able to

- use English to communicate effectively in a wide range of  social situations and discourse contexts.

- develop their own critical thinking and teamwork attitudes to handle various working exposures.

- adopt open-minded attitudes to join in academic research activities.

 

Attitudes and professional qualities: Graduates will possess

-  appropriate working ethics such as honesty, responsibility, dynamism, as well as critical thinking skills.

-  personal perseverance and passion for work with professional behaviors.

Work attitudes and performance: Graduates will be capable of

- working independently to undertake tasks/ duties related to commercial transactions in an international environment

- formulating innovative ideas and contributing to the team work for better achievments. 

 

2. CAREER OPPORTUNITIES

- Graduates can work as translators/interpreters in various working contexts such as education, tourism, or banking and finance.

- Graduates can work as an office employess in English-speaking enviroments such as international organizations, foreign business and financial institutions.
- Graduates can undertake English teaching at different English centers after completing a training course in methodology.

 

3. ACADEMIC PROGRAM TIMELINE

The program lasts 04 years with 08 main semesters and 03 summer semesters. The first seven semesters primarily focus on the lecture-based modules while the last semester includes Internship period and Thesis paper. Learners can also choose to study 3 substitution modules to replace the thesis. Summer semester is organized basedto the needs of students. Students can complete the program within one and a half years before the standardised 4-year training period.

4. CREDIT VOLUME

The total number of credits is 134 without Physical Education modules (5 credits) and Military Training Education (8 credits).

 

5. PROSPETIVE LEARNERS

Students who have a Baccalaureate Degree or equivalent as stated by the Laws of Vietnam’s Ministry of Education and Training are eligible to enrol in the program.

 

6. ADMISSION

Learners are required to comply with the Laws of the Vietnam’s Ministry of Education and Training and detailed regulations of the City University of Banking. Ho Chi Minh.

 

7. GRADING SYSTEM SCALES

The scale of 10 points is applied while the letter grades and GPA grades are converted from the 10-point scale only for reference and comparison.
